Do you think those children who died in elementary school should be included In Memoriam since, had they lived, they very likely would have been members of the class of '66? I am thinking particularly of Michael Isaacson, a classmate of mine at Emmet Belknap grades 3-5. Michael's parents were told when he was born that he was not expected to live beyond the age of three due to a blood disease. He died the summer of '59 at the age of eleven. Michael was a courageous kid who lived his life with a quiet dignity that was an inspiration to all who knew him.

Found additional info about Michael . . . His surname is spelled Isackson. He died in 1960, not '59 as I had thought. He was born in 1947. His age at death is listed as 12-13. He is buried at Glenwood Cemetery in Lockport.

. . . I also remember Michael Isackson as a friend. He was a kind and gentle boy who conversely, very much enjoyed those benign movie monsters that were so popular the 1950’s. I used to send him those monster magazines during his many hospitalizations at Children’s Hospital in Buffalo. Michael became so short of breath with the smallest exertion. He had a wonderful family and would have grown to be a fine man.

. . . Mike and I were in Sunday School together . . . Mike was a special person--he had a way of lighting up a room!

Michael Isackson has been on my mind since the question was first posted about including him in our class with a memorial brick. I definitely support that idea. I remember Michael as a quiet, seemingly fragile classmate at Emmett Belknap all through grade school.

Michael was a dear friend. I spent much time at his home. He was a wonderful person. Full of love and kindness. It was a difficult loss for all when he passed.i am thrilled that he is being remembered in such a memorial event way. He has always had a special place in my heart ??
