DIAMOND JUBILEE REUNION RECAP

As most if not all of you know by now, the Class of '66 held a very enjoyable and entertaining Diamond Jubilee Reunion & 75th Birthday Celebration over four days recently on August 17-20.

A total of 43 classmates and 17 of their guests participated in one or more of the half-dozen fun-filled activities and events organized and conducted by members of the Reunion Committee.

For those of you who weren't able to join in the festivities, here's a complete list of our classmates who attended this latest get-together from as far away as Vermont, New Hampshire, Tennessee, Florida, Colorado, New Mexico and California:

Walter Archie, Tony Busch, Molly Case, Kevin Clark, John Currie, Bonnie Butcher Czechowski, John Daigler, Paul DeLange, Tony DiGiorgio, Harley Donnelly, Judy Downs Esposito, Linda Demmin Fogle (Reunion Committee), Rusty Fogle (Reunion Committee), Carol Hughes Gillings, Paul Gleeson, Nancy Lee Graham, Lynn Pusateri Granchelli, Liz Cipolla Green, Mary Parr Hendrix, Gary Heuck, Sandra Ulas Hugo, Al Johnston, Judy Joy, Suzanne Sippel Korneliusen, Marj Kozyra, Mark LaRoach, James Lee, Connie Yox Lewis, Doug Lloyd, Marcy Strouse Miceli, Richard Napoli, Christina Brown Parker, Connie Wasson Pundt, Sharon Moore Rhodes, Smokey Santillo, Lisa Sieg, Daryl St. Onge, Jim Switzer, Jeri Taylor, Roxanne Klutts Wallace (Reunion Committee), Rosemary Madden Ward, Jim Wertman and Marty Dohring Whitehead (Reunion Committee).

One of the popular attractions was a Saturday tour of the beautifully restored Historic Palace Theatre which attracted 26 classmates and guests with a number of their pictures to be posted on this website relatively soon.

Since its multimillion-dollar restoration several years ago, the non-profit Historic Palace Theatre has become one of the premier arts and entertainment centers in all of Western New York.

If you'd like to know more about and possibly offer your support as a donor, volunteer or in some other capacity to one of the few remaining mainstays from our days growing up in Lockport during the '50s and '60s, please go to the lockportpalacetheatre.org website for more information!!!

IN APPRECIATION!!!

Our Diamond Jubilee Reunion & 75th Birthday Celebration wouldn't have been such an overwhelming success without the involvement of numerous classmates---the organizers, of course, as well as those who made important contributions financial and otherwise both in public and behind the scenes in a myriad of ways!!!

A special shout-out to the following individuals who're certainly deserving of our recognition and praise---we couldn't have done it without you:

The names of classmates and their guests who attended the various fun-filled activities and events will be presented on this Home Page in the near future while commemorative photos will be posted as soon as we receive them for the enjoyment of everyone, in particular, those of us who couldn't participate in this year's festivities.

SUCCESS!!!

Our Diamond Jubilee Reunion & 75th Birthday Celebration was a resounding success thanks to those classmates and their guests who particpated in the four days of entertaining actvities and events.

The festivities wouldn't have been possible, however, without the commitment and hard work of four dedicated classmates whose efforts went far above and beyond to make this latest gathering of the Class of '66 a reality.

Our sincerest gratitude goes out to Linda Demmin Fogle, Rusty Fogle, Roxanne Klutts Wallace and Marty Dohring Whitehead for planning, organizing and doing whatever it took to ensure a succssful outcome.

A special note of appreciation also is in order for those classmates whose generous donations and significant behind-the-scenes encouragement and support were instrumental in our overall success.

They include Gary Aiken, Walt Archie, Kevin Clark, Doc Crosby, Tony DiGiorgio, Beth Donahue Cobb, Harley/Danny Donnelly, Paul Gleeson, Mary Parr Hendrix, Gary Heuck, Marj Kozyra, Connie Yox Lewis, Marcy Strouse Miceli, Connie Wasson Pundt, Daryl St. Onge and Dutch Ulrich.

We'll be posting pictures on this website shortly for the enjoyment of everyone especially those of us who were unable to attend so please look for them in the days ahead, but in the meantime. . .

Congratulations and Happy 75th Birthday wishes once again to the entire LSHS Class of 1966---we'll look forward to seeing all of you in three short years at our 60th Anniversary Reunion in 2026!!!

US&J PRESS RELEASE  FOR IMMEDIATE PUBLICATION  JULY 17, 2023

The Lockport Senior High School Class of 1966 will hold its Diamond Jubilee Reunion & 75th Birthday Celebration spread over four days next month from Thursday, August 17 to Sunday, August 20, 2023.

This will be the first official get-together of the Class of 1966 since its 50th Reunion weekend in September of 2016.

The 55th Reunion originally set for the summer of 2021 was delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic until this year when it became the Diamond Jubilee Reunion instead as most members of the Class of 1966 are celebrating their 75th birthdays in 2023.

A wide variety of activities and events for classmates and their guests has been planned by the Reunion Committee including the following:

  • Thursday, August 17 – informal gathering at Marvin’s at Widewaters from 5-8 p.m. to kick off the four days of friendly camaraderie in a comfortable and relaxed outdoor setting.
  • Friday, August 18 – community service project scheduled for 2-3 p.m. involving an impromptu sing-a-long for the enjoyment of adult residents at Heritage Manor in Lockport with Kevin Clark accompanying fellow classmates on the piano.
  • Friday, August 18 – casual, fun-filled round of par 3 golf at Gothic Hills Golf Course on Niagara Street Extension starting at 5 p.m. followed by a beef on weck, chicken wings and salad buffet at 6:45 for both golfers and non-golfers alike culminating in an entertaining evening with classmates reminiscing about their high school escapades and other “tall tales” from years gone by.
  • Saturday, August 19 – one-hour tour of the spectacular multi-million dollar restoration of the Historic Palace Theatre on East Avenue beginning at 11 a.m. if there is sufficient interest among classmates.
  • Saturday, August 19 – luncheon in downtown Lockport at Lock 34 Bar & Grill starting at 1 p.m. with plenty of time for socializing beforehand, during and afterwards on the restaurant's private enclosed patio.
  • Sunday, August 20 – noontime wine tasting and winery tour with optional lunch at the beautiful Spring Lake Winery located on the picturesque Niagara Escarpment just east of Lockport on Route 31.

Members of the LSHS Class of 1966 interested in participating in one or more of the activities and events during next month’s Diamond Jubilee Reunion & 75th Birthday Celebration, who have not done so already, are encouraged to contact one of the members of the Reunion Committee as soon as possible:

  • Linda (Demmin) Fogle and Rusty Fogle – rustski711@aol.com
  • Roxanne (Klutts) Wallace – readroxw@aol.com
  • Marty (Dohring) Whitehead – marty.whitehead@gmail.com

Additional details on the Diamond Jubilee Reunion & 75th Birthday Celebration are available online at www.LockportReunion66.com along with profiles of all the classmates registered on the website and other information of interest to members of the Class of 1966 and their families.
