It has been 10 years since your shining star of beauty and truth was taken from us. You made the world a better place by blessing us with works of art that have intelligence, wit, warmth, texture, sincerity and just a hint of sly, intriguing, mysterious irony that makes them so endearing and unforgettable. You were truly one of a kind.
On a most personal level, Karen was the first true love of my life. Even after 40+ years of being apart, when I belatedly found out about her passing, my heart was broken.
I will always have fond and loving memories of her.
Karen was one of my closest high school (and junior high) friends. She was the eldest of 10 children, and I was fond of her whole family and enjoyed time spent at their home. Karen was not only a talented artist, but a loyal friend. She had a degree of confidence that made her able to accept and feel comfortable with all kinds of people, those who had many advantages and those who did not. When I was divorced in my 40s and feeling at loose ends, she offered to help me find a job with her employer in Denver; though I didn't take her up on it, I was touched by her generoisty and encouragement. She was very much in love with her second husband Christopher Jones, and grieved deeply when he died before her. I was glad she'd found such a love. The world is a richer place for having had Karen in it.
I remember walks to and from school in snowy weather when students actually walked; Summer outdoor slumber parties at your house with the Ouija Board scaring all of us. You were such a talented artist and good friend.

Karen,
I remember walks to and from school in snowy weather when students actually walked; Summer outdoor slumber parties at your house with the Ouija Board scaring all of us. You were such a talented artist and good friend.
