Thank Ms carr for touching the lives of so many, your acts of encouragement and dedication and we're a blessing to many, you truley made a difference in this world, it was a time I didn't want anything to do with school , and with your help and encouragement, you changed my perspective and mind set, I will never forget when it felt like nobody really cared you did, thank you so much, my prayers are with your family and friends!!!!!!

Hallie Amanda Carr, 66, of Salem, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was born in Ft. Lewis Washington, and lived in Richlands, Va. until moving to Lockport, New York, in 1962.

After returning to Virginia to attend Radford College, she earned her Masters Degree from Virginia Tech while working with the Upward Bound program. She began her counseling career at William Fleming High School where she also served as Assistant Principal and Principal. She was Director of Guidance for Roanoke City Schools until illness required her to retire. Hallie was preceded in death by her parents, Hobert and Louise Carr and her brother, Edward Carr.

Those left to honor her memory are sisters, Betty Carr, of Salem, Va. and Frankie Fox and husband, Doug, of Bastian, Va.; and a sister-in-law, Sue Carr, of Lockport, N.Y. "Aunt Pug" was greatly loved by her niece Terri Brewster and husband Rob; and nephews, Daniel Fox and wife, Robyn, Zachary Carr, and Shaun Carr and wife, Stephanie; great nephews, Tyler Brewster, Lee and Duncan Carr; and great nieces, Miranda Brewster and Amelia Carr.
