Thomas "Chip" Maslowski

Thomas "Chip" Maslowski

April 11, 1947 - April 17, 2025

Thomas “Chip” Maslowski passed away on April 17, 2025 at Elizabeth House Hospice Care in Flat Rock, North Carolina.  He was born on April 11, 1947 to the late Thaddeus and Veronica Maslowski in Lockport, New York where he lived until moving to North Carolina in 1985.  In addition to his parents, Chip was preceded in death by his brother, Michael.

Chip was a proud graduate of Lockport Senior High School in 1966 and earned his business degree from SUNY Buffalo.  An exceptional athlete as a young man, sports of all types remained a life-long interest and passion.  He also was an avid reader often with multiple books in progress at any given time and will be particularly remembered for his quick wit and curiosity on a wide range of topics.

He is survived by Colleen Maslowski to whom he was married for over 40 years; his four children, Curt (Teresa) of Lockport, Alec of Lockport, Matthew of Vancouver, Washington and Andrea Craven (Blair) of Hendersonville, North Carolina; and a brother, Andrew Maslowski of Columbus, Ohio.  In addition, Chip was a very proud "Papa" to his six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The family extends a special note of appreciation to the entire staff at Elizabeth House Hospice Care for their exceptional and compassionate treatment of Chip during his final days.

Another sad day for the Class of '66---Chip was truly one of a kind and a great teammate on and off the football field, basketball court and baseball/softball diamond---Chip will certainly live on in the memories of those of us who had the good fortune of knowing him during our days growing up and playing together and against each other in Lockport---Aloha 'Oe, farewell, Chip, until we meet again!!!

One of my fondest memories is the summer I helped Chip ("Maz") coach the Exchange Club team in Midget B. He had a quick wit and endless sense of humor. We played "catch up" at the DRI bar at our 50th. Happy trails.

In our day some 60 years ago, Hank, the Exchange Club was a Midget "A" team with VFW being the Midget "B" affiliated "farm club" originally outta Willow Park (never Altro) before the subsequent drafting days---so, Hank, we're all waiting with bated breath as to how you and Maz did as a coaching tandem---some of my earliest memories of Chip are playing for the Willow Park summertime boys softball teams (Pee Wees, Plaza Texaco Small Frys and Grant Cleaners Juniors) against the Grossi Park ruffians led by Chip, John Angelo and Frank Manna...ahhh, the good ol' days!!!

Chris - I have a memory like a steel trap - old and rusty. Most of our games were at Dolan Park (near Reids). I recall winning more games than we expected (which wasn't many). As for softball - our Sparkle City team won the city "beer league" championship in 1978 - a daunting task considering we were consuming mass quantities of Genny Cream Ale while playing. =HN=
