Craig was one of my classmates in Mr. Karp's Russian I and Russian II classes.  His name in Russian class was "Costea" (using English characters rather than Russian characters).  I remember Craig as being both friendly and intelligent. Dos korova Costea.

Craig's obituaries:

He had fond memories of his many years as an EMT in the Western New York area. Craig lived in San Diego County 20 years making good friends and working hard. His exceptional grasp of the English language added a special flair to his good humor. For nine years, Craig was "our IT guy" for Tom and Sheila at Whalen Marketing and Sales, an online retailer. His parents Carlton and Mary Louise; a brother, Randall; and his loving companion, Boots, predeceased him. Craig is survived by his brother Todd Burgess of Eatonville, WA; and sisters Kathryn Ludwig, Cowlesville, NY; Andrea Hayes, Lockport, NY, and Gretchen Newsome, Lutz, FL. A wonderful friend, a great listener, a peaceful soul, and perfect big brother, Craig is dearly missed by many.

Craig and I were classmates from high school thru our Junior year at SUNY Geneseo. After that, we drifted apart and saw each other a couple times over the next few years, randomly, mostly in Lockport. Let me echo Gary A's comments about Craig's friendliness and intelligence. Some of the other qualities I always admired about Craig were his sense of humor and his fearless quest for how and why things are. I was so glad to find out that his last 20 years were spent in San Diego. The beautiful weather and laid back SoCal lifestyle must have been a perfect fit for such a gentle soul and spirit like Craig.
