Katherine Claire (Adams, Rose) Corson

September 27, 1948 - January 13, 2024

Katherine Claire (Adams, Rose) Corson, 75, died on January 13, 2024 at Traditions at Hunter Station from complications of dementia.

Shortly after Kathy's birth in Flint, Michigan on September 27, 1948, Edward and Florence Adams adopted her and named her Katherine Claire.

Kathy grew up in Lockport, New York where she graduated from Lockport Senior High School in 1966. Life eventually took her to Louisville, Kentucky where Kathy married her second husband, Alex Rose, with whom she had Charles Alexander Rose and Sara Katherine Rose.

Working for 20 years at Second Presbyterian Weekday School, Kathy split her time between teacher’s assistant in classes of two-year-olds and the office. Once her children were in college, Kathy attended Spalding University where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree just one-tenth of a grade point short of Cum Laude status.

Kathy's identity was as a dancer. If you were not sure how a dance goes, just watch Kathy!

She taught Tap Dance in several venues over the years and was a dancer and officer in the early days of the Central Kentucky Branch of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society in addition to dancing with the Angleterre Morris Side, Louisville Scottish Country Dance Society, Louisville English Country Dancers and Sinclair’s Thursday Night International Dance Club. Kathy was also a member of the Scottish Society of Louisville.

At an age when most people start downsizing their living quarters, Kathy and her beloved husband, Don, bought a large pre-1900 house near Mansion Row in New Albany, Indiana where she lived until dementia required her to move to a memory care unit.

Mourning her loss are husband Donald Corson, her son C. Alex Rose (Molly) of Prospect, Kentucky, her daughter Sara Main of New Albany, four wonderful grandchildren, Maxwell Main, Ava Main, Ian Rose and Leo Rose and her best friend, Annie-the-Pug.

Kathy and her family received amazing support from the staffs at Brightwell Behavioral Health, Traditions at Hunter Station and SouthernCare Hospice. The family extends its sincerest appreciation to everyone who provided care for Kathy and her loved ones.

An open house will be held in Kathy's honor at a later date. Gifts may be made to the Alzheimer Association, the Teepa Snow Foundation (snowapproach.org) or to a charity or group close to your heart.
