Steve was a tough competitor on the basketball court from our days playing against each other initially on Saturday mornings in the Boys "B" League at the Lockport YMCA and then as ninth graders in the home-and-home grudge matches between North Park and Emmet Belknap---better yet, Steve was a great teammate on the gridiron for four years first playing together on the undefeated Lockport freshmen team, then as sophomores on the JV squad and, finally, two years on the Varsity Lions---to say Steve was "hard-nosed" would be a vast understatement, but even more so he was a terrific guy and someone I considered to be a good friend in high school---my family joins me in extending our heartfelt sympathies to Judy for the loss of her partner for well over half-a-century as well as to their three children and five grandchildren.

Remembering Steve and thinking of Judy, who celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary less than two months ago on August 15, from the very last page (p. 172) of our '66 Forum yearbook with the closing line "THE END OF A LION'S TALE . . ."
